To prolong the longevity of your garments:
- Hand wash items in cold water
- Wash whites separately from coloured pieces
- Fasten all hooks and zips before washing to prevent small holes & scratches
- Flip the garment inside out when washing
- Avoid using bleach or too much detergent
- Iron at low heat especially for delicate fabric like satin
Tencel │ Lyocell
Derived from wood. Has incredible moisture management characteristics, making it extremely breathable and less susceptible to odorous bacteria growth. Able to wear repeatedly without need to wash regularly
/ Cold hand wash highly recommended
/ Machine wash max 30 degrees with low spin cycle
/ Air-dry only
/ Do not wring
/ Can be dry-cleaned
/ Avoid ironing, or use lowest heat steam setting only
Cotton
Made from plant seed-hair fibre called cellulose. Cotton clothes are soft and comfortable, moisture absorbent, durable while breathable
/ Machine wash on a gentle or normal cycle
/ Wash in warm or cool water to prevent shrinkage
/ Best air-dried or machine dried using low heat as high heat can cause shrinkage
/ Cotton is a fairly tough fabric and can be ironed at higher temperatures
/ Can be dry-cleaned
Rayon
Made from wood pulp. Absorbent, soft and comfortable, also lightweight and drapes well
/ Cold water hand wash with mild detergent helps retain shape and prevent shrinkage
/ Never wring or twist when drying
/ Always iron on the reverse side of the fabric
/ Dry-clean recommended
Linen
Made from flax plant fiber. Durable yet lightweight, airy and dries easily. Prone to creases and wrinkles
/ Separate wash colours from white/light linen to prevent colour run
/ Wash in cold water to avoid shrinkage
/ Avoid wringing item to prevent creases
/ Iron whilst damp or with the steam setting
/ Can be dry-cleaned
Denim
Composed of cotton with a tight structure, making it a very sturdy material
/ Wash as little as possible (between 3-10 wears) to prevent shrinkage and fading
/ Turn inside-out & wash separately in cold water
/ Gentle cycle recommended
/ Wash separately to prevent colour transfer
Nylon
Derived from plastic, nylon is a long-lasting tough material, waterproof, lightweight, with high strength and durability. Highly resistant to tears and abrasion. Less breathable than most natural fibres
/ Cold water machine wash recommended
/ Air dry recommended
/ Avoid chlorine bleach
Polyester
Derived from plastic. Durable and resistant to stretching, shrinkage and wrinkles
/ Warm or cold water machine wash on normal cycle
/ Iron on low heat
Polyurethane
A composite fabric that is coated in a polymer which gives it the appearance of leather. Waterproof and high tear resistance
/ Keep in cool and dry place
/ Can be cleaned with mild detergent on a damp, warm, non-abrasive cloth. Always wipe dry
/ In order to remove any creases, place it on ironing board and with a towel over the portion you'd like to iron. Iron on lowest heat
/ Wash inside out with cold water by hand or on delicate cycle
Satin
Satin is a type of weaving rather than a type of fabric. Usually made of silk but can also be made of other types of material such as polyester and rayon
/ Do not wash in hot water or it will shrink
/ Avoid using the dryer in order to maintain its shine
/ Avoid strong detergent
/ Do not wring or squeeze to avoid wrinkles
/ Satin weaving is delicate - avoid abrasive surfaces
