Keeping Still

Hello there, thank you for discovering our brand.

Saero Collective took years in the making; harnessing a deep, authentic understanding and appreciation to prepare us to do what we do. I am so excited to finally meet you here and hope you'll enjoy this journey together.

We prepared this launch throughout the cold blistering months of winter 2022. Many people love Spring, the season of new beginnings, or Fall, full of sentimentalism and romance, but winter will always be my favourite. For the simple reason that in winter, many things keep still. The flowing waters of rivers and lakes freeze, the bustle of life slows.

It is the season of Keeping Still, the name of our first chapter.

You'll find pieces inspired by landscapes only seen in winter. Textures resembling frozen plains and barren trees, with hues of white, blue, grey and black. And some silver pieces, semblance of bright rays of sunlight reflected on glistening snow.

Read on to discover more about the winterscapes that inspired this chapter.

Yeongwol, a rather obscure and lesser known countryside town in the mountainous region of Gangwon-do. Rolling mountains accompanied our drive, like a big, never-ending painting. Mountains are always in their place, unfathomed by change.

Seopdali Bridge - A log bridge across the frozen Jucheon River. The air was crisp, with no one in sight. Everything was still except for two dogs playing. Though, traces of footprints in the snow meant people were once at this spot too.

Mountains powdered with snow, and the North River was frozen so solid that we could walk across it into a cave.

In a reluctance to bid winter goodbye, I also visited Sanjeong Lake on the last weekend of winter before spring arrived. And walked around it for hours, admiring the charm of a frozen lake before it began to defrost and move again.

In all the busy-ness surrounding your life, I hope you find moments to keep still.

Even mountains, rivers and lakes, are adept at keeping still sometimes.

Keeping Still will be released in three parts.
Part 1: Frozen River
Part 2: Barren Trees
Part 3: Powdered Snow
